Itinerarary Alta Via delle Dolomiti n. 1, as envisaged and described by Piero Rossi,
consents, thanks to the numerous variants, not only to enjoy the wonderful panormas of the peaks and
the legendary Dolomite mountain range, but also to appreciate the extraordinary stretches of nature, wild or
formed and shaped the by historic actions of man.
The landscape would not create the charm for which it is worldwide famous if not for the green of its woods and
pasture-lands, or the remarkable flora in the myriads of microenvironments by which it is characterized,
if it did not create a togetherness with the geologic events and the relief formed by the glacial erosion.
It is not the case of the l'Alta Via n. 1 which is indeed crossed by three protected areas,
Parco Nazionale/National Park (the Dolomites of Belluno) and two Regional nature areas (that of
Sennés-Fànes-Bràies, run by the Region of Bolzano and that of the Dolomites of Ampezzo, a jewel of the Regole Ampezzane).
